The Ministry of Culture and Media invited interested actors from the field of culture and cultural heritage to participate in the celebration of the European Heritage Days international event from September 26 to October 3 this year and to submit projects aimed at bringing cultural heritage closer to the general public.
European Heritage Days are celebrated every September by the 50 signatory countries of the European Convention on Culture, through the organization of events at the local and national level on a common theme, which is chosen at the European level. The event was initiated through the cooperation of the European Commission and the Council of Europe.
The theme of European Heritage Day 2022 is „Održiva baština“ (Sustainable Heritage), and the local and national events that will be included in the program of the event should show what steps must be taken to protect the wealth of Europe's cultural heritage in the context of climate change and environmental degradation. Thus, the European Heritage Days 2022 give the opportunity for local organizers and visitors to reflect on how we can identify and protect tangible, intangible and natural heritage, promote sustainable tourism, additionally consider the use of natural resources, and connect these issues with heritage, art and landscape and biodiversity conservation.
Submitted projects should be educational and entertaining, to include, if possible, different aspects of cultural heritage: tangible, intangible, digital and natural heritage, to include the inclusion of a wider audience: children, young people, elderly, vulnerable groups, locals, tourists and foreign visitors, as well as to stimulate curiosity among visitors, through connecting cultural heritage with their personal history.
The submitted projects should also enable visitors to get to know a part of the heritage that they did not know, in a place where they did not expect it.
