Introduction
The Ministry of Culture and Media informs interested actors in the field of culture and cultural heritage that within the European Heritage Days initiative, which is implemented at the initiative of the Council of Europe and the European Commission, a call has been opened for submission of stories about European cultural heritage. The aim of the invitation is to emphasize the European dimension of cultural heritage, but also to highlight the importance of local communities that are involved in the celebration of the European Heritage Day at the European and national level.
In addition to submitting stories, local communities can submit a project proposal within the application form, in order to apply for funds in the amount of €10,000, which will be awarded to the best stories, based on the decision of the international evaluation body.
Stories are submitted in English or French.
Who can apply?
The invitation is intended for local communities from the 50 signatory countries of the European Convention on Culture that have organized at least one event within the European Heritage Day in the last four years (from 2019 to 2022); winners of the Europa Nostra award and localities awarded theEuropean Heritage Label).
Applicants to the Call for Stories are expected to participate in the European Heritage Day 2023 program.

Important dates
- February 28, 2023 - deadline for submission of stories
- March 1 - 31, 2023 - selection of 20 stories whose authors will be invited to participate in the second round of the competition and develop their ideas into a project, with which they apply for a grant in the amount of up to €10,000
- April 5 - May 5, 2023 - call for authors of the top 20 ranked stories to submit a final application consisting of a comprehensive project proposal and budget
- May 9 - June 9, 2023 - selection of project proposals to be financed
- June 15, 2023 – delivery of notice of selection
- July 1, 2023 - March 31, 2024 - period of implementation of selected projects
